Philip Munyua, Ph.D
Founder & CEO, Kilimo Afya
Philip Munyua is an AI engineer and data scientist with over a decade of experience designing and deploying large-scale, real-world artificial intelligence and data systems across global organizations.
He holds a PhD in Computer Information Systems from Purdue University and a Master’s degree from Columbia University. His work spans enterprise AI platforms, cloud data infrastructure, and real-time decision systems across finance, government, and technology sectors.
Philip has led AI and data initiatives across the United States, India, and Africa, building production-grade systems for financial institutions, public sector agencies, and global technology teams. His expertise includes machine learning, computer vision, and scalable cloud architectures.
Through Kilimo Afya, he is applying this experience to build digital infrastructure for smallholder agriculture — enabling farmers to access real-time intelligence, advisory, and services through AI.
He also serves as a lecturer at Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) and leads innovation and incubation initiatives through CRIBI (Centre for Resource Mobilisation, Innovation and Business Incubation), where Kilimo Afya is deployed as a real-world platform for research, validation, and large-scale implementation.
